Japan knife laws

I'm probably going to Japan for holiday and I would like to know what I can carry there.
From an old thread I found out that Japan law says that under 6cm fixedblades and locking folders and under 8cm nonlocking folders are legal to carry.
Are these laws still valid and are there some restrictions regarding tourists?

In Japan I think you're required to carry a blade long enough to commit hari-kari.

Just dont flash it around and you will be OK with pretty much anything.

I just found this site and on the forum someone told he has gotten his Swiss Army knife confiscated in Tokyo. But aren't Swiss Army knifes legal because they have less than 8cm blades and are non-locking?
