Japanese copy?

I bought a G-96 110 clone back in the mid to late '70s. I couldn't afford a Buck back then and the G-96 was actually a pretty good knife. I still have it somewhere.

A lot of copies of Buck knives are around.

I'm not surprised that the Japanese steel in the G96s was excellent, but I never knew it or thought about it until this thread.

Chris: Thanks for the heads-up on "dealspotting". I'm not familiar with the term and don't consider a copy to be a "deal" and if I did think it was a deal, certainly wouldn't post it to this web site!

I also bought a G-96 110 clone in the 70's from Austad mail order. The lock doesnt work any more.

I think I tossed it a few months ago. I like the "rustproof" stamp, doesnt that mean it cant rust under any circumstance? Big claim.

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

Unsuccessful imitation just shows how hard it is to make a really great product!
