Japanese Emergency "Emegency" hatchet

I don't have any experience with that axe but I order from JapanWoodworker several times a year and have had nothing but excellent service from them. They have always shipped promptly and securely, and have a very knowledgeable staff to boot.
 
That's a Nice Axe, I get there Catalog and I'm on there E-Mail Special's list, I aint Ordered from them yet, But I've got there Profesional Machete on my List and there Bamboo Hatchet and there Harvest Knife Is catching my eye also, They have Great price's and some Real Nice Stuff,

I think they carry some Real Nice Blacksmith Forged Tool's and at a Very affordable price, There gonna be getting some on my Money, I'm going with the Profesional Machete and the Bamboo Hatchet, They got some Great Buy's on Gansfors Bruk's Hatchet's & Axe's also, But I also like there Japanese Hand Forged Axe's & Hatchet's as well, Check out there Sushi Knive's, They have some Nice & Very Expensive Blade's, :thumbup:
 
Gee, thanks guys. Now I have found at least another 4 or 5 blades I NEED to get. :rolleyes: That axe is definitely one of them along with the bamboo hatchet, machetes and some of the kitchen knives.
 
That hatchet is awesome. I wonder how difficult it would be to replace the handle, if need be.
 
Thanks to the OP for this thread. I see a couple pcs. I am interested in from a company I never heard of before. One of them is the Bamboo and the other is the Emergency Hatchet.
 
I like the looks a lot. I have a Gransfors bearded axe from their Ancient Axes collection and this would be like a smaller brother to it.

It kind of reminds me of a Roselli, except the chisel poll of course.
It is a "bearded" axe head design.
Not the most common but still pretty common. Apparently it is popular in japan.

The bearded design is generally used for utility axes, allowing "precision" work and closer grips.

It is somewhat a surprise to see it on an "emergency" hard use axe as the long "bearded" edge would put additional stress on the small socket.
