Hi folks -

One of my friends has been working in Japan lately, and he brought me back a very neat friction folder. (Thanks Jacob!)

I don't read the language, and the box is all in Japanese, so I don't know anything about it other than it is very sharp and appears to be hand made.

Here are a couple of quick shots of it for my friends here in Traditional -

I bought a variation of one of those through one of my wife's gardening catalogs. I was certainly made for real work. It came with a very thick edge.

I had one of those. It was simply made, but the steel was good. That laminated blade took an awesome edge.

looks like a razor, like the one they use in barber shops to shave you or like the ones they used earlier

Funny you should say that; I actually use one of these for shaving.

Higonokamis are pretty awesome, great value for money. Apparently supposed to be a knife for working with wood IIRC?

Thank you, gentlemen, for the information!

I will treasure this knife as a gift, and now I will know much more about it!

It is very interesting to read about the blue steel etc.

I have some more reading to do - thanks Esav for the links!

I have the exact same knife. I love how lightweight and slim it is in the pocket. I can also manipulate it with one hand. The only thing I don't like is that the thin handle can be a little uncomfortable with extended use. For the price it's definitely worth picking one up just to try out.

Very nice!
Watch out though, it leads to custom higonokami's.
cheers
