Good morning all,

I was browsing through an online estate sale site in my area and found an auction ending tomorrow (11/21, 4pm est) with several dozen authentic period Japanese swords available. Many of these appear to have been purchased by the estate from Sotheby's and date back as far as the early 1700's. I am in no way affiliated with the site. It was just making me drool and I wanted to post up a link here for any collectors who may be interested.

For an "authentic" japanese katana that looks pretty damn cheap. I'm guessing cheap Chinese knockoffs.

Then you would be guessing incorrectly.

Those are real and some are in nice polish still. People seem to think Japanese swords cost millions and can cut through engine blocks. Neither of which are true, but they sure are beautiful.

Prices for typical swords have gone down considerably in this economy as fewer people have the money for extra toys.

You aren't allowed to post links to live auctions.

Sorry, I was unaware of this policy. In fact, the word "Auction" does not appear in the BladeForums.com Subscriber & User Agreement . The agreement does disavow any responsibility for the contents of any links posted, but that seems to be the only statement on the topic. Mods, please do as you wish with this thread. Still think these swords are very real and very cool though :D
