In Japan, knife laws getting worse. After Akihabara muder case, police department decide to change knife laws. Almost daggers are forbidden and they said, they bring it to sucrapp yard. even some of art knife as well.(Police Department said that in Japanese law only samurai swords are art. other artknives are not art.) So,we try to stop the change of knife laws. (Japan Knife Guild did not show any action about this change. and they only say, please keep laws.) but, our try still dose not work. So, I think to ask help in overseas. if you have any effectable connection, please use that connection to stop the change of knife laws in Japan.

I haven't use English long time, so I think some of my English have storange mistake. But I hope, you will undestand what I want to say.

Police department( I should say, National Police Agency. I'm sorry about make you embarrassment by my poor English.) have a council of knife laws. if they think to need change, they bring it to Congress.
So, in this case, this autumn Congress will decide the change of knife laws. After the Akihabara muder case, Seki knife production council ask the National Police Agency to limit to sell the dagger knife.
Unfortunately, Knife law council think about not only the dagger but also dabble edged knife will need very strict limitation.
So, even art knife will be forbiddened item in Japan, if that new knife laws get recognition at this autumn Counil, that's why I make this announcement.

Making daggers illegal changes nothing but only makes knive collectors upset. the police? whoever doing that know this? I don't know. they are doing that because they need to show the public they're atleast doing something to prevent murder by knives. It souds so silly does it not?

Unfortunately, this type of hysteria is common around the world.

Its the media who is largely to blame. Knife homicides are right up there with shark attacks when it comes to sensational headlines.

And the cops/politicians love focussing on the weapon because its a much easier target than the real underlying social problems that cause crime.

Passing a new law makes it look like they're taking real action, but it solves nothing.

Just look at the United Kingdom. Knife laws up the wazoo and they're still going at each other at every opportunity.

Yes, I'm waiting on glass beer bottles to be outlawed in the UK next - no broken ones to fight with. Did I miss something? Maybe they already did that.

Shirou, I feel for you, but sadly, I can´t help you, except to give you this advice:

If you want to start an organisation that will defend knife rights in Japan, make sure you remind people of what it was like the last time common people were not allowed to carry blades. Ask people if they want to go back to the times of the samurai, when only very few people could carry blades and the majority was opressed.

Maybe that can convince your politicians.

Also, your English is pretty good, I´ve been to Japan recently and most people there are much worse than you are ^^

just10minreader, Thanks foe information of 'knife Rights'. It's very interesting for me.

Arkeld, Thank you for your advice. Certainly, before making any movement, we must think about effectable strategy for politicians, media, and people in Japan(at my case).
I think your opinion will be useful idea.

Now, Japanese prime minister Mr.Fukuda was resigned himself, so this autumn Congress
will face to chaotic situation. Some of new plans were go back to blank. we hope also new knife laws bo back to blank.
