I picked up slippies from a couple of Japanese makers at Blade: Matsusaki Takeshi (http://www.hat.hi-ho.ne.jp/ma-ho) and Yoshio Sakauchi. I was wondering whether anyone else had a chance to handle their knives or is otherwise familiar with these two makers?

I handled the first guy you mentioned ,his knves,M. Takeshi, they looked good.

I know there are a lot of great Japanese slipjoint makers out there.I have considered purchasing, but w/I go to do it,I wind up convincing myself,to purchase from an American maker.
I handled Ohta's knives for the first time, too,at Blade & his work is awesome

I especially like the work of Shigeru Tozaki and Ryuichi Kawamura.
Took a delivery from Ryuichi at Blade and placed an order for next year with Shigeru Tozaki and have found myself spending time researching some of the makers from Japan as of late.

I own and have owned both Ryu's and H. Ohta's work. Both are exceptional.
