What is the best reference for making?

I've got a piece of W2 that is telling me to make it into a wakizashi. And a chunk of copper that say's 'habaki'.

Hello Scott. A very good book that goes into all aspects of the process is:
"The Craft of the Japanese Sword" by Leon and Hiroko Kapp and Yoshindo Yoshihara. It is or was put out by Kodansha International and you should be able to find it on Amazon.
Good luck
Brion

thank you .... I was eyeing that on Amazon. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

That book is one of my favorite things. I also have a 7 part DVD set on makeing Japanese swords. I'll have to dig it out and post where it came from. Thank's for the post I need to watch that DVD set again.

I have that book and it's fantastic.
the only "hole" is tsukamaki, the wrap tang, beacuse they mainly talk about shirsaya sword.

There are some surprisingly good videos on youtube on tsukamaki if you're looking to fill that 'hole'.
