Yes I know it's been a long time since I've posted anything. It's been one disaster after another but I'm up and running again so after many long months here is the newest completed project.

This is a Chokuto( a single edged straight sword).
Specs are: Steel, L-6 Round sawmill blade, Blade; Width at hilt, 1 1/4 inches, Width at tip, 7/8 inches, Length is 24 3/4 inches.

Handle/Saya; Both are made of Paduk, handle is 14 inches, Saya is 26 inches

Tsuba; Is a pierced and carved crane from 1/4 inch copper plate
and measures 1/4 X 3.

All other fittings are of copper Overall length is 39 inches.

Thanks for looking.

Nice one Bob, I bet that think is scary fast in the hand , especially being L-6. How's the power hammer running. Mine imploded :)

Thanks All. Well Mark, it's light and slick weighs about 2 LBS, as far as the hammer I havent really used it since I broke my toe, I took the motor off of it when I got flooded in april, now after putting it back on I doesnt seem to have the power and speed it should and it built the hammer up to 50 LBS. Just have to play with it some more and get it tuned in. Shows I've been away for a while what ever happened to Master Williams :) . Sorry Michael I finised it on saturday and the fella picked it up on sunday so all I have are rush pics.

Very nice.
If I remember correctly padauk has some pretty noticeable 'pores' in it, at least the pieces I have (in a box somewhere at this point), almost looks as if it was attacked by hundereds of tiny worms? How'd you overcome that?

Twisted bits I did'nt overcome the pores sure there large but not unsightly, pretty much like oak, I accepted the material as it is, I applied 3 coats of minwax antique oil finish rubbed it down between coats and then applied to coats of carnuba wax and it finishes out very nicely, only thing I dont like about it is it's hard enough to make xylephone keys out of.

Very nice, The carved out tsuba is an especialy nice touch. Did you get a hamon with the saw steel?

Will, I didn't even try to get a hamon on this one since I wanted the blade to be straight and edge quenching would have caused a curve.

Master Williams comes forth from his domicile on occasion to enlighten us all :)

That really makes me want to make something long and lean. Might have to just do it soon .
