japanese swords

There is a plethora of information on the net in general on the subject. But if you want to find any of it on this site, you may want to check out the Sword Forums section.

"Craft of the Japanese Sword" by Yoshindo Yoshihara is a great book. It goes right from start to finish from refining ore to the finished product.

craft of the japanese sword is considered a beginners book...but everyone starts from that book, ultimately to get deep into nihonto craft you need to be able to read japanese, the best texts are in japanese, mind you they are still great in the fact that the images gives you a close up look with high res images in all aspects of japanese swords. Ultimately though hands on is the best method of learning, which isnt an option for most.
