So there was a discussion about traditional folders from other countries and someone brought up the Japanses variety. I already had a Higonokami and I was interested in the others that they had to offer. I came accross this model and decided to give it a try. I guess I didnt read the dimensions, its a handful. Its a friction folder with a locking mechanism. Single bevel edge, most likely for wood working or pruning. In any event, here it is!

WOW!

Kind of big, but very cool. Did you mail order it or are they for sale near you? Is it lightweight like Opinel's?

I guess the best description would be a Japanese Opinel. Its light, its sharp and its built with a minimalist approach. About 5 5/8 " closed.

Waow! A folding kiridashi!? Sweet!

I bet that's always going to be in one's pocket, especially for carving.
