Does anyone have sources to descent reproductions of the Japanese Type 95 NCO sword? I'm not interested in the China manufactured variety. I wouldn't go that route just on principle.

There is the India produced stuff sold through Discriminating General/Military Heritage. They offer both an NCO and Officer reproduction

In communication with the following folk, it was said that they use EN8 (roughly equivilant to 1040) steel at a relatively soft spring temper. The RC number given was suprisingly low but they say they always have done it that way. It would seem they are the source for the above importer and probably other resellers as well.

That is the only source I am aware of besides what you will find on fleabay. It has just been a few years that have seen prices rising on originals and there are still some around at almost reasonable prices (<$500).
