I would also like to check out some Japanese style fixed blades, what are some you guys would recommend?
I've been looking at the cold steel konjo 2, though that's not as traditional I still like anyone have one how is it?

Cold Steel creates it's own Japanese traditions. Authentig Japanese knives are like this Kanetsune:

and G-Sakai:

And this is from Kukihide knife shop I found in Yokohama:

As you may see it is bit different from what is presented here as Japanese tradition (like single bevel, so called Tanto point etc).

This German site has good choise on Japanes knives:

Thanks, Vassili.

WOW! I could go bankrupt pretty quick if I happened to stumble onto that store. Seriously...

That is because they are all hand forged by skilled smith. But you may find here some Kanetsune for reasonable price (at least year or so ago they emerge on US market, but I do not see them more here). But there is good source in Japan established for US market:

From that German site I bought few blades and made kinfe like this myself - my favorite kitchen knife:

Traditional kitchen knife Ajikiri (double beveled BTW):

Thanks, Vassili.

Aside from like and dislike either the single or double bevel, I like the interpretation of japanese influenced knives from Phil Hartsfield and Pohan Leu. Especially Leu for his known quality and affordable price range.
