So all my buddies are at Bladeshow, and I had to finish up the work week, I'm headed down there EARLY mañana... But in the meantime I figured I'd put up this post... Got this in early last week:
Specs:
Blade: 2.4"
OAL: 6.1"
Weight: 1.4oz
Steel: CTS-XHP
Jared's knives are becoming increasingly synonymous with the word "perfect." The blade on this particular Lanny's is ground so transparently thin, that when you run your fingers from spine to edge you can't feel it transition from primary to secondary bevel, the edge of the knife is literally transparent to look at.
The handles are made of brown canvas micarta with yellow and black G10 liners... The deletion of steel liners makes this knife a featherweight at less than an ounce and half. I'd be afraid to hold it in my open palm on a windy day for fear that it'd blow away.
The pins and transitions to the G10 liners are seamless with no perceptible edge.
Blade to spring fit is...well you can see what it is, but only just. ;-)
All in all, this is a very handy EDC sized slip joint. Fits well in the coin pocket on a pair of jeans and makes an excellent backup blade to something larger and more intimidating, OR it will serve perfectly well in a sole carry knife capacity. Jared, while always having been a great maker, has really come into his own since my first experience with him just a few months ago. Each knife is better and better... If you get a chance... SNAG one.
