I'm looking for these jars, they're similar to "candy jars" that are all glass and have a rubber seal. I was told they're "mason jars" but all of the mason jars i see look like plain old jelly jars. The ones I'm talking about have some little brackets or something on the side that come up and fold down onto the lid securely. I'm looking for about 6 or 7 small airtight ones. Anyone know what i'm talking about? thanks!

edit- found a pic of one on a photography site:

if anyone knows what they're called or where i can get them please let me know. Also, i'd like some suggestions on other containers i could use.

Yes, those are Mason jars. They come in a variety of sizes.

As for what else you could use, doesn't that depend on what you want to use them for?

hmm, about the volume of a regular jelly jar and smaller. i've found a few of these jars but somewhat expensive and mostly too large... i'm looking at alternatives now and leaning toward regular babyfood jars... they just don't look as nice though, and kind of corny. oh well.

Not as easy to find as they use to be. Last time I found them it was at Krogers. Perhaps Flea Markets on the weekends wouldn't be a waste of time.

Hi Neosporin-

What is your intended use of the jars? That will help guide responses for alternative storage suggestions.

Flea markets are probably your best bet for standard sizes. I have seen small versions of the old Ball (greenish tint to the glass) masons that are about double the size of a baby food jar, but I don't remember where. Check the kitchen aisles of your local x-mart, or possibly craft stores.

Hi Neosporin-

You've got your answer then...I'm sure an upscale tobacconist would be able to assist you with appropriate storage containers to keep the tobacco fresh and at the correct humidity levels.
