A few months ago I saw a knife on ebay that got my attention.
It's the same knife that I've had since I was about 12 years old.
The ebay knife had Estwing etched on the blade. The markings on my knife have worn off long ago so I didn't know where it came from.
The reason I'm so interested in this knife is because it is the best edge holding knife I have ever owned. Strong words for a guy who's had hundreds of knives!
After some searching I found one on the web.
The knife is a "Jarvenpa Scout Knife". It's hand made in Finland and has a 4 3/4" forged carbon steel blade, leather washer handle with aluminum guard & pommel and it weighs approx. 5 oz.
So far the only US source I have found is a website called 'Memories of Finland'. It sells for $30.00.
I've spent many times that amount on a single knife yet here I am admiring one of the first knives I ever owned.
Cheers,
Collector
