Jarvenpaa Horsehead Puukko Experts...

Among the blade styles I enjoy is the puukko. I recently acquired the below (see pic) knife and am having trouble with the taxonomy/classification of this one.

What I know: its a Jarvenpaa Kauhava Horse Head Puukko. Cast brass horse head pommel, lacquered birch bark handle, leather shealth with brass accents. Blade has etched on it "Iisakki Jaravenpaa Oy" Line 1 and "Made in Finland" line 2.

Dimensions: Sheath: 4.5" (11.4 cm), blade: 2.25" (5.7 cm), knife in the sheath: 5.5" (14 cm).

Questions: what approximate year is this model from? 5 years old or 50 years?? Does the leather sheath give a clue? Is this a combination knife or a ladies model knife? Is it desirable?

As you'll see from the English translation, Iisakki Järvenpää have been making the Kauhava Horsehead Puukko continuously since the end of the c19th, it's a mainstay item. Dating your knife could be tricky and although I live near the factory I'm not much of an 'expert' on the national knife, others on this forum are.

Some additional info....Jarvenpaa still sells these small puukkot. The are called naisten puukko hevospainen, or ladies knife with horses head.
