Ummm, not sure if this is the right place to bring this up. But I thought I'd raise this just to clarify.

Ummm, I think most people who know me as Jason Cutter also know that my real / other name is Kwong Yeang. And that the Jason Cutter thing is a slightly tongue in cheek name which has over the last 10 years or so, become an identity for me.

I used the name Jason Cutter, in the way that traditionally, a person's surname was dictated by their family trade - eg.- Smith, Baker, Carpenter, Miller etc. Its a feature that appears in virtually all cultures. The Cutter name came about through my interest in edged weapons training in the various martial arts I got into earlier in my life. I had it long before knifemaking took hold. When I started making knives, it was too cliched and corny a name to give up, so I kept it up.

I'm not even sure if anyone's interested in this tiny trivia, but I thought I'd clear it just in case someone took a look at me, figures I'm of Asian origin and isn't sure to ask or not, "Where the HE$# does the Jason Cutter name come in... ?!"

And in case you're wondering, I do respond to both names like it were the same thing... :D Cheers. Jason.

I kinda figured that, but I always thought it was funny when people called you Jason on the forums. I didn't know that you responded to it as if it was your real name. I just thought you got tired of correcting everybody.

To me, The words "Jason Cutter" bring up images of some gorgeous custom designs I've seen on the CKD Forums 'Display Case'.

Good to see you posting here, Jason!

Drove me crazy when I received an e-mail from "kwong yeang" knowing I had never written to anyone with that name. First word of the e-mail response was "G'day". What the heck, who did I know in Australia with a name that was quite obviously Asian. When I got to the end, it was signed "Jason". It is worth a look at the "gallery" on his (Jason Cutter's) site. As to what he is like, I found one very small reference in his whole site to the complete title of his name. DR (doctor) Kwong Yeang does not remind you he has achieved the status of doctor which I think something to be proud of nowdays. In addition to that, he finds the time to make some very fine knives.

It is a very interesting thing, how lots of us have electronic identities that may or may not be the identities our moms and neighbors know us as!

My "real" name is Karl Rejman, born and raised here in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. My mother is from English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish stock, my dad is from Polish/Czech stock. When I was a newbie on the block at the Philosophy department here (1st year student, I think), 2 of the senior students started calling me Crayola. Karl Rejman kinda sounds like Crayola, and I thinkt hat is how they came up with it. So, that year or so I found Bladeforums and had to pick a forum name... what to pick, what to pick... everyone had such colorful names... CRAYOLA!

If you come on BFC Chat, you will see my name as Cray. Here, my name is Crayola, but my real name is also in my sig line. On other forums, you usually see both Crayola and Karl Rejman on my posts. In 5-7 years I will attend my first BLADE show. I'll probably see if I can find a medium sized Crayola t-shirt to wear, and if anyone shouts "Hey Crayola", or "Hey Cray", I'll turn my head just as fast as if someoen said "Hey Karl!".

Cool story Jason "The Kwong Yeang" Cutter!

Crayola -- you're unquestionably the sharpest crayon in the box! Very much enjoy and appreciate your posts.

I guess being "ColoradoDave" because my name's Dave and I'm from Colorado doesn't show much imagination, huh? :(
