Ummmm, no secrets.
A few points - I have a most understanding and supportive better half. I still have a medical job, but there have been modifications !! I've recently gone part-time as a medico and am spending 2 full days / week as knifemaker. I am bloody obsessed with maximising efficiency. Anyone observed me in the workshop, on a given "knife day" will see that I do 6-7 different things (completely unrelated) one after the other. Its worked out on the timing of procedures - esp. the oven tempering cycles and the epoxy cure rate !!

Also, there are ways to avoid redundant techniques and minimise errors - save time without sacrificing quality. My new "real" grinder makes a HUUUUGE difference. Thanks Hardy !!
You will also notice that the ones I turn out a lot of are the small ones.

Being opportunistic helps. I can always see how a quick 5-10minutes each morning doing one small thing adds up... And yes, I don't have kids yet ...
And learn as much as possible, eg.- here on the forums, visits friendly local knifemakers - Shawn McIntyre for instance, listen carefully when guys like Peter DelRaso talk about fit and finish ...
And thanks Tom, your comments are warmly appreciated. Jason.
