Jason, When do you sleep? You have to be one of the most prolific knifemakers on the planet. You post new knives almost daily and their all first class looking. How many hours do you usually average in your shop per day?:) ;)

:D :D :D Ummmm, no secrets.

A few points - I have a most understanding and supportive better half. I still have a medical job, but there have been modifications !! I've recently gone part-time as a medico and am spending 2 full days / week as knifemaker. I am bloody obsessed with maximising efficiency. Anyone observed me in the workshop, on a given "knife day" will see that I do 6-7 different things (completely unrelated) one after the other. Its worked out on the timing of procedures - esp. the oven tempering cycles and the epoxy cure rate !! :D Also, there are ways to avoid redundant techniques and minimise errors - save time without sacrificing quality. My new "real" grinder makes a HUUUUGE difference. Thanks Hardy !!

You will also notice that the ones I turn out a lot of are the small ones. ;) Being opportunistic helps. I can always see how a quick 5-10minutes each morning doing one small thing adds up... And yes, I don't have kids yet ... ;) :D

And learn as much as possible, eg.- here on the forums, visits friendly local knifemakers - Shawn McIntyre for instance, listen carefully when guys like Peter DelRaso talk about fit and finish ...

And thanks Tom, your comments are warmly appreciated. Jason.

Certainly a point that has crossed my mind as well. I think we all can learn a little from your work ethic. Good on ya'!

Jason was probably grinding with one hand, and typing that message with the other! :D

Ha, what does Peter Del Raso know about fit and finish? :D

Peter, if you're reading this, you KNOW I'm kidding.

Mr. Del Raso makes some of the finest knives ever!

Thanks guys. Its been a blast (lots of ups and downs too) and I'm having a great time. As long as I still feel the calling, I'll keep doing it.

Clearly, this is not just all up to me. I have definitely been blessed all along - it would not be possible if things weren't in an ideal situation. Of course, hard and careful decisions have had to be made, and I must thank lots of other people around who have been more helpful than I could ever have imagined !! (Tears in my eyes ...:) )

BTW, still got a LOOOOONG way to go... Jason.
