Greetings all,
For some time Jason Knight has been high on my "I can't believe I don't own one of his knives and simply must do somthing about it" list.
Well, there could hardly have been a better place to do something about it than Blade. For the big forged knife collector, Jason's table was a dream - an armful of fighters, bowies, subhilts and camp knives.
The type of knife I had in mind was exactly the knife I bought - a recurve fighter with Jason's signature raised clip:
This knife features a 9" blade with an overall length of 14", contoured ironwood handle, stainless double guard with copper spacers.
Here is a shot of the maker and the knife:
And a peek at some other goodies from his table:
Next up is an elegant bowie by the incredibly talented John White. John's table was another bowie-lover's dream come true with some really appealing offerings.
This particular piece stopped me in my tracks with its graceful, flowing lines, wicked hamon and palm-filling hunk of stag:
This knife features an 11" blade of W2, overall length of 16", stag handle and nicely-detailed fittings of stainless steel and damascus.
Here is a shot of the maker with the knife:
And a peek at some more goodies from his table:
That recurve chopper would have been just as welcome, but was already spoken for.
Both of these makers had a very successful show in terms of sales and awards. Jason picked up two - Best Bowie and the Moran Award. John picked up the Best Damascus award for a stunning dagger. My thanks and congratulations to both of these fine makers.
Roger
