Jason made me this knife. I wanted to have something that was pleasing to my eye, made to specific dimensions and easily communicated to Jason, without a whole lot of drawing/Photoshop back and forth, so we agreed on a 3/4 scale Founder's Bowie.

This one has an 8 1/8" damascus blade of "?" and 15N20. OAL is 13 1/16", stock is 5/16". Handle is stained tiger maple, stainless steel furniture.

Paul Long did the sheath with a beavertail inlay, similar to Joseph Paranee's, but not the same.

Jason knocked it out of the park with this one. He handed it to me in The Pit at Blade without even a towel or dirty rag to wrap it in, so I had to walk around for the rest of the night careful to avoid stabbing anyone by accident.:D

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Killer knife, gorgeous sheath. Nice to see that Canadian beavertail spreading far and wide.

Roger

Beautiful knife STeven. Congratulations. That beavertail is a limited supply so enjoy it while it lasts.

haha- 'by accident'!;)

I was going to make a joke about spreading Canadian beaver, but I won't:D

That's a fantastic iteration, the design scaled down very nicely. Looks awesome, like Knights do. Good score!

That knife is beautiful.

I googled it, and searched blade forums briefly. What makes it a "founders Bowie"?. It would seem the humpback clip point is the qualifier but I would like to know for certain. Thank you.

"The proceeds of these knives will finish Jason's new shop hence the name Founders Bowie and I believe the names will go on a plaque that will hang in his shop. There will be 10 available with I believe 2 ALREADY SPOKEN FOR so there are 8 still available. They will be sold on a first-come/first-served basis"
(all are gone at this point, but you wanted an explanation)

That was right on the money. I couldn't find an explanation for the name anywhere, but saw it mentioned several times in the google results.

Killer killer blade

Again as was Kevins this was one of my favorite knives at Blade

Congrats brother

Great looking Fighter, STeven, Congrats !
Lovely sheath as well, striking package.

Thats so sweet looking. They all look like they would just feel great in hand. This one seems extra handy in a scaled down version. I also like them in damascus.

I like it a lot, STeven!! I'm partial to smaller Bowie/Fighters and looks like the is would be a perfect fit.

How could anyone NOT like that?!?!?

Jason is the man!!! :cool::thumbup::cool::thumbup:

Thanks, Nick(Jason thanks you too, the check is in the mail!)

This fighter is as different as the ones that I have from you as Knight and day(couldn't resist).

The interesting thing about it is not how thin the edge is or how the handle feels, it is how ABSOLUTELY you feel like a snap cut with this knife would sever an arm or nick an artery with minimal effort. It is wide, it is pokey, and the back edge cuts as effectively as the primary edge. This knife is a wolf in sheep's clothing....for an 8" blade, it absolutely performs like a much bigger knife...and as any lady will tell you, 2" makes a big difference!:D

It will deploy quicker, it will conceal more readily and it does NOT compromise in any aspect...however, it is clearly a fighter, and not a bowie, which is what Joseph Paranee originally designed. I know Joseph very well, and if there is a modern proponent of a Fighting Bowie who is competent, Joseph either handily fits the description or can easily name someone else who might fall into that category.

I would feel somewhat competent against him with a sword and there are not many that I can say that about, but I would probably run away shrieking like a little girl if it was bowie to bowie.

Amazing... I have one one critique... SS guard? I thought you prefer non-SS.

Ah...no...where did you get that?

I like SS or Bronze...not brass, not nickle silver and NOT any type of carbon steel guard on anything except katana, but when you buy from the likes of Don Fogg or Larry Fuegen, you take what you can get.

Good looking knife STeven. Everyone who owns a Jason Knight knife seems to feel they are some of the best adouns and this is a nice example. The died tiger maple is really nice and the Paul Long as usual completes the package well.

Enjoy, Jon
