Jaymack Sheaths Thread: Feel free to comment!

I created this to post my new sheaths on the same thread so as not to clutter the forum every time I make some new sheaths.

I make sheaths with figures carved in to them. This gives me practice so that I get better at carving leather. I get most of my images searching Bing and Google. Many are from tattoo sites. Every carved image is unique. I will carve the same image in order to get better at it, or try different techniques in carving, dyeing or antiquing.

Right now I have a Buck 119, Becker BK7 and BK14, and Esee-4 that I will be making sheaths for. I plan on using any money I make if I am successful to buy more knives and leather to make sheaths for, at least that’s the story I’m telling my wife!!!

I use veg. tanned carving/tooling leather from wicket and Craig. http://www.wickett-craig.com/index.php/leathers/description-and-grading It’s the best leather I have ever used and is made in Pennsylvania.

All of my sheaths are cut, carved and sewn (double stitched) by hand. I use very little metal on my sheaths, just line snaps for closures. I always cover with thin leather any exposed part of the metal hardware that may come in contact with the knife.

There’s nothing like the smell of leather!
