JB weld & Threads

I did a quick search and could not find an answer.

If I wanted to JB a nut to a piece of metal plate, thread the bolt in to hold it tight, how can I keep the threads from becoming contaminated??

Will vaseline or something like that keep bolt threads from getting attached permanently??

A little MIG welder would be perfect, but alas I don't have one

I considered Epoxy, but it is a vertical surface, and I thought JB would have less of a tendancy to run.

Thanks in advance

Just coat the threads with paste wax.
I had to do that with my drill press when the threads in the hub, of all three handles started to crack, or otherwise biodegrade. Just packed the insides, and the female threads with JB Weld, coated the threads of the handles(male) with automotive paste wax, threaded them in, and let it dry.

I had no trouble unscrewing the handles after it dried. That fix is still working 15 years later on the same drill press.

Like Mike said, paste wax, grease, release agent (I make mine with boiled soap). Anything that will prevent the epoxy from getting a grip on the metal.
