Hi, I was reading in Wayne Goodard's book "The Wonder of Knifemaking," and when he was talking about his Combat Quality Knife he said he silver brazed the nut to the pommel so that he could then screw it on to the tang. Since I'm not very good at soldering I was hoping that I could use JB weld instead. Would this produce a bond good enough to hold it together while in use. I know that JB weld is very good for use in guards and tangs but I was hoping that it could also be used for this also. Thanks.

Charles, JB weld wont hold the nut to the pommel. Its time to learn how to high temp solder or silver braze. If your name is going on the knife you dont want the pommel to come off.

Well I was afraid of this. But you are both right , I need to learn to silver solder. I just need to keep a it. Thanks you both.

Charles, get a K&G catalog. Theres a page that shows you how to silver solder. It's a pretty good tutorial. Most important part is make sure everything is clean and useenough flux.

You could always tap the pommel if it is thick enough. Sometimes, but not always, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Your tang length has to be "proper" when doing this.
