I remember you posted a pic of your SEAL 2001. I was wondering if you had any experience with the 2000 version. If so, could you tell me how they compare and contrast? How does each feel? Does one seem sturdier than the other? I am curious from a user POV. BTW, KK.
(Knice Knife *G*)... The "K" is silent.

I've only handled the SEAL2000 very briefly, but my recollection is that it was very much like a tiger striped and serrated version of the standard model, with an additional name stamped on it. The 2001 is a totally different knife from it and any other models I've handled, size and geometry wise. The point in particular seems much more aggressive and offensively designed, with a view toward penetrating protective clothing seemingly in the forefront.

While I consider all of the bigger tantos made by these guys to be extremely useful and similar in abilities, I feel the 2001 stands apart. It makes my GS seem like a back-up blade, for example, due to its size and gravitas. Were I still one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, it is the knife I'd carry if only permitted one.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your input on the knife. I noticed that the SEAL 2001 had a much more aggressive tanto form and I was wondering if you felt that that section might be less sturdy than it's predecessor for prying and utility tasks. What do you think?

Blasphemy! A Strider with a delicate pointy end? No, the 2001 carries the thickness out there despite its offensive potential. Its really a very subtle design - hats off to Duane and Mick - because it manages to be Strider thick and strong even as it is more drawn out.

My definition of a military/tactical knife is that is must be able to easily penetrate people firstly, and that it must be able to do that and still open c-rats, chop notches in wood, fashion tent pins, cut cord, strip comm wire, hack out hides, and do all the 90% of uses most of us do out in the boonies with a knife. The 2001 seems to fulfill that description to a T.

(PS - Hey Duane, see how I gave you top billing up there? Any chance of that moving my AR along? :D )

*LOL* I was pretty certain that would get a rise out of you.

In truth, I placed an order for one in the beginning of July. I just wanted to make certain that I had made the right call. From all the research I did, I was pretty certain that I got the right knife for my needs. I was looking for the kind of endorsement that you provided to cinch it for me. Thank you.

Perhaps if you posted more pics of your knife.... :D
I like to think of my blasphemy as trolling with only one "L."

Hey jbravo!
I dig the part in the middle! ...

Thanks for the good words!

c-rats? Us urban commandos eat In-N-Out when we are roughing it. Our Snipers usually have it delivered by getting a Double Double combo in a bag, having it stuffed into the bottom of an orange traffic cone, and then you have one of the perimeter guys throw it up to you on the roof-now thats tactical eating.
