Here's a dagger that I just acquired. It is by JD Smith MS who was until recently the only ABS Mastersmith in my area.

It has a 10 1/2" high layer count multibar damascus blade with damascus and silver trim, double fullers, filework and carved African blackwood. It is almost 10 years old. It won "Best of Show" at the 2000 Oregon Knife Club Show.

I brought it down to JD yesterday and he took a few photos.

Jim, you lucky b*****d. As I mentioned on Don's forum about this knife.....I love the way JD did the top edge of this dagger. Real nice score and it fits right in to your collection:cool::thumbup:

Knowing JD I bet this is a stellar dagger. I wish we could get some pictures of the finer points of it. The handle has to be a work of art alone. Please send it to Coop so we can fully enjoy this sweet dagger.

Wow, Jim,

Just walked in from the shop where I'm heat cycling a certain person's blade, and see what a score you've made here!

I'd like to see more of that handle and guard, also.

that is quite a knife!

Don,

I'm about a 3 hour drive from Coop. I brought some knives down to him to shoot last year.

I am thinking of driving down to have some more knives photographed, including one I will receive soon.

The hard think is to find time in Jim Cooper's busy schedule, so that he can take the photos.

stunning blade you have there.

is there nayway you can get some better pics of the damascus pattern? it mught just be me, but it is a bit difficult to see.

:thumbup:Wow that is one beautiful dagger:thumbup: Soon you'll be making knives like this!;):D

Beautiful dagger. NICE score Jim. Congrats!

I have seen pictures of it before but don't recall specifically where. Perhaps one of the Knives annuals?

I wondered who won that auction. VERY nice score (understatement), great job! Now it needs a sheath that's just as nice, or maybe a display stand. Enjoy that dagger it's a beauty.

Peter,

I hadn't seen it before but, it's similar to his Mastersmith dagger which was just on display at a Museum in Massachusetts.
