Here's a photo of a JD Smith MS Quillion dagger with 6 bar composite, African Blackwood, damascus fittings, OAL 15 3/4 ".The blade has a four bar composite "Firestorm"patern core with a 400 layer random wrap. The fittings are all en suite "W" pattern steel. It's not mine, but it's nice. Jim Treacy

Don't think I've seen a dagger I liked more. A very nice sheath to complete the package.:thumbup::thumbup:

until I found out the freight...stunning work.

J D Smith does great work, that is very different from that of many other makers. I put him in my mind with Don Fogg and Robb Hudson for his quality and boldness of design.

Freight?

Sweet!

And I love Coop's work, but JD himself often says, and I agree, that his work does not "read" well on computer screens. That is, if you get right up into his damascus--I mean nose almost touching it, turning it in the light for chattoyance, etc.--it is about
10x better than what you see on the internet.

I agree, John. The damascus pattern is multibar, and the complexity is like the finest engraving. I can't show that from this distance.

Thanks guys. This was especially worthy!

Having owned a few of his pieces, I would agree. They are much nicer in person.
