I'm sure many of you know Jeff Ware's knives. For those who don't, Jeff lives in
Merida, Yucatan Mexico and makes all of his knives by hand using locally sourced materials. With the arrival of my latest JDWare knife, I think I have enough to actually start saying I have a JDWare collection! The latest is a large (very beefy) lock back featuring a 3.375" file-worked O1 blade (and spring) and some very attractive Yucatecan lignum vitae covers. Bolsters and liners are nickel silver and the escutcheon is made from an old silver US quarter. Here are some pics of the latest, followed by a group shot of the collection ... which now numbers 5, but will surely grow beyond that!

I guess I better update this ... as another (very special) knife arrived today. It is one of his coin knives made from a .900 silver Spanish Colonial 8-Reale coin minted in Mexico City in 1788. The coin was split precisely in half and contains two 1" 440C blades, a cutting blade and a file blade. The coin knife is attached to a .925 silver keychain, handmade by Yucatecan jeweler Carlos Canul.
