I think its a craftsman knife But not for sure. Ted williams contract with schrade walden, and or craftsman began in 1960 or 1961. I believe your model to be a 138L. Possibly from 1967 but for sure post 1960. someone may chime in and double check my info- Joel

thanks Joel- just out of interest it has "SCHRADE-WALDEN NY USA" stamped on the base of the blade & Ted Williams etched on to the blade -in script so the T looks a bit like a J- along with the TOOL STEEL BOWIE HUNTER USA etched on.
thanks mate.

One thing I am positive of it that it is a T. If you go to the top of the schrade page and go under search forum and put in ted williams you will get a ton of info.- Joel

Here is some information Direct from the Ted Williams Web site. Baseball Hall of Famer.

I have heard the question before! "Who is Ted Williams?" Just in case you didn't know.

HBO had a great documentary on him recently
I didn't realize he was such an avid fisherman....

I didn't either, but it now makes sense. I was at an antique shop this weekend and saw an absolutely beautiful mahogany spinning rod. It was a Ted Williams edition by Sears. I was tempted, but for the $89.00 they were asking, I could get a nice rod I can actually use. Even though I myself am an avid fisherman, unlike with knives, I don't collect fishing gear. At least not COLLECTIBLE gear, anyway. YET....

He is not well known in Australia - but the signature shown on the web page is the same as on the bowie knife.
thanks guys.
