Can I whine about something?

Jeep / Land Rover or Hummer?

No account for taste but what happened to simplicity? I am talking about Tactical knives.
What is tactical?
Does it mean a strong knife? Cant it be strong and simple?
Does it mean modified to serve a specific purpose? If so , does it have to look like it came out of lord of the rings?

Why make knives to look like muscle ?and end up looking silly and distasteful?

It’s the same thing with cars, Have you seen the new Hummer cars? What happened to the old Land Rover or Jeep? They were practical, strong but nice and simple.

Cheers guys.
Excuse my grammar guys, my English is a tanto

you might want to duck for cover for this one! lol

tactical used to mean a knife that could be used in a military setting, something tougher then tough, something you'd want to bet your life on.
now tactical is just a word used to sell knives to mall ninjas and arm chair warriors, (no offence guys, lol! :D :D ) now if i was goin to dress up in black and repel down a building i'd want more then a 110 to deanimate any rent a cops i might encounter along the way. a real tactical knife is a fixed blade!
there i said it.

i agree that the new hummer is a joke, its ment for the dangerous drive to the local starbucks, the old h-1 could drive through 10 house's along the way and still be functional. i saw a pic on the net of a h-2 that hit a ford f-150 and the ford came out with less damage and it appered to be a head on collision.

image became more important than substance. Every time I see an Escalade with 20" rims and skinny tires I shake my head. It's a truck, right? Untruckinbelievable. A truck with leather seats, power everything, spinning rims and DVD players. Excursion limos? Civics lowered so much they can't go over a speed bump. "Punks" who hang out at the mall. That's not punk. Mall ninja geeks with their budk sci-fi folding liner lock space dagger  Young guys with their pants down past their boxers and their sun visor on upsidedown and sideways trying to look "ghetto" in the suburbs. It's all absurd. I feel like a crusty old man at 33. I watch the History Channel instead of MTV. I listen to Tom Waits instead of Usher. I drive a '65 VW because I can do the repairs myself. And in my pockets right now I have a SAK and a Case grandaddy barlow from 1971. Simple knives for a simple guy.

Frank

P.S. I think "tactical' is like "SUV". What it means now is a long way from what it used to mean.

I'm glad there is such a variety, that gives me more choices on what knives I want. I don't go in for the sci-fi blades either, but knives using new design ideas or new materials is great as far as I'm concerned.

I just saw on the news last night about another massive GM recall on SUV's including the Suburban and Hummer. Hardly gives you a sense of confidence in slapping down cash for a new one.
