Col. Jeff Cooper passed away today at the age of 86. He made huge contributions to the shooting world over about 50 years [the earliest book of his that I have was published in 1958]. A Marine, shooter ,with degrees in hidstory he lived a full interesting life .He will be missed !!

Wow ! I did not know this...........:(
The man that made gunsite what it is today.....

Truly a great American

He will be missed. I wish there were more Americans of his caliber (pun sort of intended, maybe he would have appreciated the humor)

I was turned onto Col. Cooper and "tak tak" back in the early '70's by our Explorer leader who was the SO Swat leader. He got a few of us into combat shooting.

I drove all over town looking for "Cooer on Handguns". Still read it now and then, amazed at how simple he made it seem.

He will be missed.

My condolences to he family.

That's some bad news. Jeff Cooper was the father of modern combat shooting and one of the strongest advocates of the Colt 1911 series of pistols. I had the pleasure of meeting him many years ago.

Oh no!!! This is truely sad news!! RIP Col. Prayers to his family and friends!!

Such sad news. It is my sincere hope Colonel Cooper is in a better place and his family can find comfort in the great things he achieved in the course of his lifetime.

Agree with him or not, he is one of the few man that I truly RESPECT! "To ride, shoot straight, and speak the truth." Colonel, thanks for everything.

Sad news and a great loss to the gun community.

Best wishes to his family.

Sad to hear of his passing. He shaped the world around him for better; he was a man of great integrity, eloquence and personal force. He will be very missed.

A great man gone.

I own and cherish a couple of his books, including Cooper on Handguns and To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth .

How sad. My condolences. He will certainly be missed. (somewhere I have a personal letter from him in response to a letter I wrote to a gun magazine. I'll have to make sure I still have it.)

R.I.P.
