I picked up a Jeff white English trade knife in 1095 and I like it(for the money its awesome!) this is less of a review and more of an initial opinion. First off I payed $50 on eBay for a 1095 knife and hand sewn leather sheath...... Worth it! It is a stock removal 3/32 blade ht to I think 59 and slices well as it has a rough convex grind, the site says flat grind( but at 3/32, you can't do a whole lot!). I took it out On a day trip and it impressed, very sharp and stayed that way after some carving of hardwood and fire prep chores. The blade has ht scale on the spine to mid part of the blade(black). The sheath is made by Robert jones and is very adequate for the small price, he does custom leather too. Now, is this a batoning machine.... No. Is it a great made in the USA general bush knife for a great price with good fit& finish..... Yes. The handle is for small to medium hands and comes in several wood choices, mine is beautiful curly maple. Beowulf on eBay, or just search Jeff white knife. Will update when blade is used more.

My 5.25in nessmuk came almost convexed then a rough v edge that was not close to being even on both sides, good sheath on this one.

My 4in blade jeff white trade/patch knife came convexed without any edge to the tip for 3/4 of an inch, flat and thick. The sheath was so short the wood of the handle only goes in for 1/2 an inch, it falls out easily.

5.25 in trade/patch knife came with the same almost convex of the nessmuk then a rough flat grind on just one side to complete it, the sheath was better than the shorter patch but still not enough leather on the handle to really cover enough for real retention in the bush.

I have 2 of his big 1/4in 8.5 in clip pointed bowies with the leather scales and they came with nice convexed edges and the sheaths on these were pretty good. Not bad choppers and they are fun to throw, picked them up for beaters.

For the price you can get them on the bay( got mine for 30 to 40) they are alright but the grinds and sheaths can be a little hit and miss compared to a lot of the fine makers on this forum.

I will say that the heat treat on the 1095 seems pretty good once you get an edge you like on them, good bargains that need some work at times.

Thanks for the input brad, I was kind of aware that there is quite a bit of variance in his work and I am happy I got one of the good ones. My sheath could be a little deeper and I am worried about it loosening up. My edge isn't perfect and I assume Jeff white is a "sharp is sharp" kind of guy and not much into edge geometry like many of us knife nuts. I still maintain they are a good value at the price for traditional full tang user knives(at least the one I got)! It's a cool little slicer but it won't be taking belt time from my spyderco bushcraft.
