Although this is not the first of Jens Anso's pieces to ever grace my collection, it is the first one that I have ever received from him directly, and it is my favorite because he was kind enough to make it exactly the way I wanted it. This is the Bastid, one of his newer folder models, and it features everything that I've ever wanted in an Anso folder.

This Bastid is a framelock, and it sports a 3 7/8" handrubbed RWL-34 recurve blade and an 8 5/8" OAL. The handle slabs are symmetrical in thickness, and they are contoured and textured in Jens' trademark pattern. The textured Amok-style clip is made of Timascus, and Jens featured a new style titanium backspacer on this one.

From handling this piece, I am happy to report that Jen's work keeps getting better and better, and the quality on this piece is the best of all of his work that I have had the pleasure of handling. The action on the folder is buttery smooth, the lock up is rock solid, and the blade centering is just about dead perfect. The shape of the handle makes it extremely comfortable to grip, and the texture helps prevent the knife from slipping in your grasp.

Hats off to Jens for some really great work here!
