Here is Jens Anso's Testlab Outbreak v. 67-432. Jens is well known for making some of the biggest and scariest-looking folders around, so this relatively straightforward and mid-sized design represents a little bit of a departure for his work, and in a good way. This piece is arguably my favorite work of his that I've ever seen.

The Testlab Outbreak series is Jens' creative outlet for alternative designs. Instead of introducing the Outbreak models to his lineup and taking orders on them indefinitely, each Outbreak model is limited to roughly 5 pieces. The v. 67-432 design immediately caught my eye, and I was fortunate enough to make it on to his 5-person order list for this model.

Jens was kind enough to allow me to request some specifics on my piece, so this one ended up with textured red/black carbon fiber scales and titanium bolsters as well as tritium vials on both sides of the handle for easy location in darkness. The handrubbed blade finish was by request, too.

Although the 3 1/2" blade and 7 7/8" OAL make this piece a bit smaller lengthwise than most of Jens' other models, this one is seriously built like a tank. With a blade thickness of nearly 1/4" and the liners that are .130", the Testlab Outbreak v. 67-432 is among the toughest and beefiest folders around. This one might actually even be a little too beefy for me (I probably would have gone with a thinner blade stock and liners), but at least I'll never have to worry about it failing me during use at all.

All in all, I am overwhelmingly pleased with my Testlab Outbreak v. 67-432. Even the presentation of the knife is absolutely first class. Instead of arriving in a typical zipper pouch or bubble wrap, this piece arrived in a custom labeled Pelican case, the most stylish and secure packaging I have ever seen for a knife.

Hats off to Jens for a job well done!

THAT THING IS SO SWEET IT HURTS!!! Finely phtotographed too!

Everything about has serious SD design behind it!

WOW- what a great looking knife. I am really impressed with that one! Nice one Ken!

I LOVE everything about that knife!! THAT is a TREMENDOUS score!!!! CONGRATS!!

I haven't seen a knife that made me drool in quite some time. This one is going to the top of my DreamList. It's perfect, and i'm asucker for a nice case...lol

For a minute there I thought the back edge of the blade was sharpened, and that had ne worried. I've always like Jens' designs, and this one is no exception.

Nice piece. I don't think I have ever seen such thin scales ever...

What do you have to do to be aware of those releases? I didn't see it on his website?

Ken,

I put this in the same boat as that AirKat.

Thin scales are very interesting, and the insert is nice.

Other than that, it goes in the "butt for every seat" category.

Really glad you like it, and that others find it tasty. Good score, I guess.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
