Hello, My name is John Lewis Jensen, and I'm a knife maker, and I'm new here to blade forums. Trying to figure my way around here, and what area is what, so forgive me while I find my way...

Anyways, some of you know me, some don't. I've been making high end Art Knives since 1994. A lot of people don't actually like my stuff, as I don't make stuff that is all that usable, but I still build them like tanks and to all proper knife making specs. It's OK if you don't like what I do, but hopefully you'll see that I have a lot to offer to the community.

Thanks for having me, and thanks for looking!

Below is an example of what I do...

Welcome John.

I met you a few years ago at a Blade supper. Nice knives as always.

Nice to see you here John. I have enjoyed your work since we meet back in the 90's at the blade show.
Hope we get to see more of it now that your posting here.

Beauty and strength is what I see in your knives.

You need to hold one.

Nice to see you here, John.

I hate your knives, but have no problem with you. Actually, though you make them like knives, the ones that I handled were not very much like knives....they were sculpture and metaphor.

I come from the "knife as a tool first" school....that doesn't leave a lot of room for what you are about in my perspective, but I can completely appreciate that your passion, visibility and self-promotion benefit the community.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Welcome John. Glad to have you here and looking forward to seeing more of your work and picking your brain on a few things.

John, welcome here. I really like your work especially your daggers, but that's because I appreciate "form over function" a lot.

Marcel

G'day Mr Jensen,
I have seen your work before. Outstanding! I certainly look forward to seeing your latest creations. Knives can be tuff and still have bling! As you have shown here. Bravo.
Cheers Keith

Welcome!

Great knives.

I remember reading an article about your construction process a few years ago in one of the knifemaking books Blade periodically publishes, and was very impressed.

Your style is completely different from mine, and that's why I like your knives.

Hi John,
I have known John for many years. You are a credit to the knifemaking world. You reach a market that many of us do not have access to. Your knives may be hard to hold but are more complicated than people realize. Art with a sharp edge.
I have enjoyed working with you over the years. Welcome to the forum.
Gary

Hi John, you must forgive Kohai999, he can't help it, he believes in "self promotion". However, even though Kohai999 believes "knife as a tool first", most of his knives never see any work, since that would destroy the investment value.

Didn't you used to have a real descriptive "folksy" website, or is my mind playing tricks?

I've seen, and have developed an interest in your work through David Darom's books, and I would like you to know that I'm glad you found this forum and hope to see more of your work here.

Welcome to C&H!

Now, put up your feet an enjoy the pending drama :)

Brownshoe, John's web page was very elaborate, and visually, had some of the best "closeup" knife photography going when I used to visit...I always got the impression that John must have had a computer background because his site was so far superior to most.. I think you might be thinging of Jay Fisher's web page, which more fits your description..

John, I am glad you will be participating here.. Your knives are instantly identified, and personal preferences aside, that is no small feat in any artistic effort... Best, Rich

Thanks everyone. Good to be here, I've been sort of a non forums guy due to all the horror stories you hear! :) I know my stuff is not to everyones taste, and that is OK. I figure there are enough people making more normal, working knives, so who needs another! :)

And just so everyone knows, my stuff has gotten much easier to hold in the hand than my older stuff! Even though it may not look like it, you have to hold them to believe it! :)

Good to see some old friends here! I don't do knife shows anymore, so I've missed many of you!

My website is pretty cool... I have both a magnifying function on my photos as well as a click to enlarge function. http://www.jensenknives.com

Again, I may not be to everyone taste, but I think I have a lot to offer... and you wont hurt my feelings if you don't like my stuff.

On my facebook page I'm working on the "MOTHER OF ALL WIPS"... over 600 photos and counting documenting 1 knife, over 240 hours of labor thus far. I'm about 75% done. Maybe when I'm done I'll re-create the whole thing over here, but you have to be nice! :)

Hey Gary, BTW, I just posted a bunch of pics of your steel over a knife related Facebook page... people are going crazy! :)

ANyways, here is another one of mine to check out:

I was just reading the build along in Blades guide to knife making on these three knives last night actually. The build steps and detail involved is unreal.

Thanks, and apologies to the moderators... I'm getting in trouble all ready for posting links... :(

I'll try to not break any more of the rules... but my days here might be short lived :(

How many days you have here is entirely up to you sir. :)

I hope you don't think you're being treated unfairly and I've tried to explain the site rules in our email conversation.

Please take a look at these two "stickies" from Spark (the site owner).

Basically you pay for the ability to promote and sell here or your posts get pulled. Hopefully you decided to stick around.
