Related to my search for wife's jewelry box, I found this:
http://www.jewelbasket.com/jbjjjbc167.html
It looks good and is the perfect size - large enough for all of wife's crap, and fits into the lowered section of her antique dressing table.
I e-mailed the store with a couple of questions and they promptly replied. Yes, it's made from solid wood. It's made by a company called Jere Wright Global. And it's imported from Thailand.
So anyone heard of this company, or is anyone familiar with their quality? Would I be better off to buy an American Reed and Barton product? The imported box is really made from mahogany; most of the Reed and Barton boxes are made from poplar and stained to appear like more expensive woods. But I don't have any grudges against poplar and it is real wood after all.
This sure would be easier if physical stores I could visit actually sold wood products instead of cardboard.
Oh well. Guess if I don't like the thing I can return it.
