anybody know what the knife in the movie is? are they still available anywhere? pictures?

I have seen the movie a couple of times. If I recall it was a custom Bowie (about 8.5 inches).

John Nelson Cooper made the knife. It is closest to the Western W-49 Bowie knife, except the handle is alternating brass and micarta chunks.

It's a Western #49.

I seem to remember that 2 knives were used. Perhaps The J.N. Cooper was used for photos, etc... and the Western W-49 for the actual movie? I remember a big deal was made that Cooper made a knife for the movie.
