Video is where it's at. It's not a fad and it ain't goin' away any time soon. I determined to make the jump from still to motion photography and Jerry offered me the opportunity to hop in the deep end and "get my feet wet"! I thought I would drown before it was over.
I made the video in a manner that hopefully puts the viewer inside the experience. It is not an exhaustive documentary - nor is it an advertisement. It is simply a creative effort on my part. It was not and is not a commercial venture. Jerry took a chance on me, hoping to get a simple video memento of the event for this year's attendees and knowing there might be a wider audience for it if the video turned out to be more than just a flail on my part. I am very grateful to Jerry and the attendees for allowing me, as you will see, full and unfettered access.
Two cameras were used; a Canon 5D3 DSLR and a GoPro Hero 2. I edited the raw footage using Adobe Photoshop CS6 - which, for the first time, has a robust video editing module. Although the video runs 14 minutes as is, I have so much more material that there will probably be a part 2 soon - to include among other things a 3 day hog hunt (preceding the Micro Show) down on Little River near Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge, where Jerry and some others have a stellar hunting camp.
Might as well get what I'm about to say next out of the way right off the bat. WARNING: this video includes footage of assault weapons with hi-capacity magazines in a target-shooting situation. A couple of space aliens were definitely harmed, along with a few pumpkins and hay bales, but that's it. Please do not derail this thread by debating here what is currently a very sensitive and even incendiary topic out there. Thanks in advance for your consideration.
I hope, even though this is my first ever video (and yes, it shows), that folks will get a kick out of it. If nothing else, it provides a unique window into the wonderful world of custom knives - Jerry Fisk style.
I can't embed the video so please follow this link to my FotoTime image gallery: http://www.fototime.com/B7A0F2D198060DB/convx264.mp4 It should open in its own window at its native size of 640X480. Press the play icon and off you go!
