I came across this piece a couple of years ago and yesterday I finally got a great image of it. It was made in the mid/late? 1990s, and represents the early golden age of ABS work. It is about as classic as they come.

Note: The hairline crack was in the handle when I acquired it, but didn't stop me for a moment from acquiring it. Actually, I think it gives the knife an extra bit of character.

Nice! IMHO, a piece like that could be very useful for building depth into a Fisk collection - depth that supports/adds value (assuming it could be had for a sum that suits such a collector/investor's situation).

Incredible looking knife!! Really. Look at that blade! I handled another vintage fisk with a similar handle shape and they feel wonderful. I love the spacer treatment and how thin the guard is!

Having seen and held that beauty in person, it's not hard to understand why you made the best of the opportunity to bring it home. Classic Fisk, gorgeous bowie.

This is what they meant by "ABS Style", and it wasn't a bad thing.

I agree John. It's just what I was referring to in another thread the other day. The flat oval guard w/rope filework, the fluted spacer/ferrule, the 8-9" long sleek clipped blade. Great and beautiful example.

Both Jerry and Tim Hancock were using the black-lacquered damascus blade quite a bit at that time. I really like the look and definition it gives the pattern. Have a little Fisk Boot knife that has the same process.
