This is a big, bad and beautiful bowie style knife by Jerry Fisk, ABS Mastersmith. Jerry was awarded National Living Treasure status and makes a few "NLT" designated knives each year. This one is #2 in 2012.

The photo doesn't show it but the blade has a chisel-ground and sharpened clip. OAL is 17 inches and the blade is 11 3/4 inches. Handle is nice fat piece of Sambar stag, dyed to produce rich reds, yellows and deep browns. To me it looks like the handle has its own fire inside. Very nice!
The Damascus pattern is what Jerry calls "Trail of Tears" and shows not only the trail but also pools of tears with many abstract faces and figures. He forged the blade from 1084 and 15N20 steels. The mounts are stainless and Jerry claims, "I drug the mounts on the road to provide the engraving." ;)

Wow - that is a really special piece !

Every single facet of it is exceptional - the steel, the blade shape, the stag, the fittings......

The photo image is only surpassed by Jerry's knife. Incredible on both fronts.

Bladeite, that thing would cut the green off of a Lepercaun

that steel is CRAZY! Neva seen anything like it. Nice work Jerry and great photo Buddy, your admiration for this knife comes through loud and clear.

I see that Lorien just said exactly what I am about to say. I've never seen anything like that steel. I don't say that all the time either. Thats nuts!

Jerry,

Beautiful job. The steel is really something.

Buddy,

As always a great photo.

I had the privilege to see this knife up close at the Little Rock Show. It was the centerpiece at Jerrys table and rightfully so. A most beautiful Bowie.

Outstanding example of why Jerry is one of the most talented and renowned custom knifemakers in the world.
That damascus is exceptional. Jerry, will we see more of that pattern going forward?

You really captured it Buddy.

My thanks to Buddy for such a good image.
Thanks for the kind words y'all.
Kevin, yes, in limited doses. I think I can squeeze a bit more good out of it next time.
