I was able to pick this up from Jerry this weekend in Atlanta. Of course it has the typical deep hollow grinds and screaming sharp convex edge, and floats in hand even with stainless bolsters (which will be engraved soon enough.) Ivory Micarta with red liners.

If you've never handled a Hossom fighter, you really need to get by his table next year early (before they are gone) and just pick one up --- guaranteed to make you smile

very nice score , you sure snagged a great knife from an even greater person.

Always loved picking up and handling Jerry's knives. His work just feels right and has performance to match.

Tapered tang on that one too ?

Why are you engraving it?

Who would do the work, and what would be the theme?

What are you planning on spending on the engraving?

You bet --- it seems he rarely will do anything without a tapered tang these days. Maybe his tarangua (sp? --- the one with the pry-bar tang) model wouldn't be tapered???

STeven,

I asked Jerry about having one of his knives engraved, so he built it with engraving in mind. I do love the knife as is, but have been itching to try some deep relief engraving on one of Jerry's ivory micarta models. Basically, I just think/hope it would look good :)

I talked to Jody Muller at the Blade show and his price was very reasonable --- a little less than 1/3 the price of the knife. Honestly, this particular knife is not intended as an investment piece, so added value or return on investment is of little concern (again, just on this particular piece.)

Jody and I discussed a simple deep relief scroll without gold (I think silver and black will better compliment the existing color scheme of the knife.) It will most likely originate from the tip of the guard and move upward.

Those are my initial thoughts, but I do have a bit of time to think it through. I would love to hear your thoughts/suggestions, as I would really hate to "screw it up"

Well, it certainly won't look bad.:D

IMO some knives benefit from engraving, and some don't. Those knives, such as Jerry's that are really beautiful and functional knives, I never thought any of NEEDED it...that is why I was asking.

Jody does a fine bank note scroll, and you can't go wrong with it, thanks for answering the questions.

That is a beautiful knife. But if your thread makes me buy another expensive knife, I'll hunt you down like a rabid rat.

That's an incredible knife. I love the grind work on the blade and the Ivory Micarta really suits the knife.

Great score
