Jerry Hossom suffered major injury to(I believe) his right hand a few days ago when a table saw kicked back on him. He says that he is facing 6-8 months recovery time.

That's really bad news.
It will be hard for him to have to wait for so long but, as long as he gets totally recovered, it is good enough.
A speedy recovery, Jerry!

Oh man, another injury? Damn, Jerry's having a stream of really bad luck this year. :(

Get well soon, Jerry.

I believe that happened to Jerry a couple of months ago. I just read on another forum that he expects to be grinding again in a couple of weeks.

Ahem...

Thanks for the well wishes folks, but rumors of my demise are somewhat premature! :D Actually, that was about 4 months ago, and I'm pretty much healed up now.

Walt, you gotta read the fine print bud. That was a pretty old post. I appreciate the thought though. ;)

I have just sent Jerry an email apologizing for the thread about his injury. As I told him, someone else told me about seeing the post. When I looked at it , I didn't notice that it was not a recent occurence. I apologize to everyone here for this mistake.

No need to apologize Walt. My friends already know I'm a klutz and pretty much expect to see me in a cast or bandage anyway. :)

I'm not sure I'm smart enough to make those Kit. I reckon we'll find out in a couple days though.

It was a break along with quite a bit of soft tissue trauma. The tip of my thumb is still mostly numb, but I can live with that. The bone at the bottom of my thumb knit together pretty quickly, but the tendons have given me fits for most of the time. In the end I think accupuncture has helped me the most.

If you've never experienced a table saw kickback, I promise you don't want to. I did some rough calculations and concluded the push stick it my wrist with about the same force as you'd get if you were driving down the road at 60-70mph, stuck your hand out the window, and let your wrist hit a sign post.

I ground a couple blades the other day, and I probably did it as well as Greg would do running a foot race right now, but it'll come back. Just need some practice. Get well quick Greg. That sounds painful. At least I was able to get around OK.

Jerry,

I hope you recover fast. Maybe the numb thumb could be a bright spot?

You want feel the heat anymore when your grinding a blade. ;)

Good Luck

Heal well too Jerry!

Here was the equation on mine. 2am + 5mo. hungry baby / 4 hrs sleep in 2 days = 1 broken and dislocated toe X 500 4 letter explicatives.
