Living in the swamps of the southern United States I became acquainted with county music and southern rock PDQ..

Early on introduced to me by my Dad in the very late 1960's one of my favorites was JERRY REED who has passed earlier today from emphazeema.

One of the all time great songs I remember as a kid hunting and fishing in the swamps here was AMOS MOSES! If you have never heard it,, or just want to hear it again, check out the link below:

Bless ya bro,

Anthony

sad indeed.

i was never a fan of the music, but i thought his role in "survivors" with robin williams was hilarious.

Heard "She Got the Gold Mine, I Got the Shaft" on the radio yesterday. It was the only Jerry Reed song I have heard in several years.

He was a great guitarist too, Chet Atkins told him he was a better fingerstylist than he was. Watch him go here on Wabash Cannonball and Lightnin' Rod:

Hauser,

Much obliged for the videos up above in your post!. I have never seen any of them prior to this, what a great guitar picker we lost in this old southern boy!

Thanks Again!

I'm not too familiar with Jerry Reed's music, but if you are referring to the movie "Smokey and the Bandit"...

Not to pick a nit, but Jerry Reed 's character was Cletus "The Snowman" Snow. A "Smokey" was something all together different...

Of couse now I keep hearing "Eastbound and Down" running through my head.
