I was recently honored by one of our knifemaker's and wood providers here on the forum . Jess Hoffman offered me a block of wood from his web site to put on a knife I was going to put up for sale and asked that I just mention him .

Well this wood he had on his site was just beautiful , it was a block of stabilized spalted birch that I picked out . I decided to put it on this knife ( the chub ) as it had the largest handle of the knives I had on my bench . I put a 4 layer super glue finish/sealer on it , in person it looks like fossil ivory to me .

I was going to put this up for sale here on the forum but it sold before I even finished it . A friend came over and I was showing him the piece and telling the story and he bought the knife right then and there when he saw the wood .

Thank you Jess for this honor and offer .

I think that is a beautiful chunk of wood.... although "chunk" seems to be rather crude compared to the masterful work you have created here... Thank you for sharing!

love that blade shape too... was there a specific task that the blade was designed for?

Wow, just got to this, the "Chubb" is one of my favorites that you do. That is an exceptional piece of wood on a beauty of a knife.:thumbup:

I just saw this and I think its awesome! Nice work. I use CA to finish some knives and it's makes a very durable finish. Good work.

the first thing i thought was "great looking wood" it makes you want to handle it... love the copper as well
