Does anyone here actually carry or use a Jess Horn or Frank Centofante lockback? My most high end traditional lockbacks were made by P.J. Tomes. How do Horn or Centofante compare to Tomes?

Mr Horn's knives(especially his slipjoints) are some of the best on the planet.IMHO
I do not know much about Mr. Centofante's.He made a knife for BACKA a frw years back and it is beautiful.
As for using one or the other, not I.:)
I think PJ's knives are great also but he tends to be made for using.Blade steels, ect.Plus he does a lot of forging. :)

Nifrand, I don't blame you for not using your Horn. I can barely bring myself to use my Tomeswhich is much less expensive.;)

I purchased a side-lock folder (with abalone scales) from Frank Centofante at the Blade Show. Talking with Mr. Centofante, it was pretty clear that he expects that folks will carry and use the knives he makes. In fact, part the reason for my selection of the side-lock over an equally beautiful lock-back with mastadon ivory scales was Mr. Centofante's recommendation that the side-lock was a better pocket carry.

Not that I've actually carried or used it, yet. :)
