Jester or Ladybug?

I'm going to get one of these two knives to carry on my keychain for everyday cutting tasks such as opening boxes. They appear to be nearly the same exact size. Which one should I get and why?

Thanks in advance for all input.

You can see more green Jester photos HERE

... If you have ATR, buy Jester, similar blade shapes :p

Unless you really need/want the extra pointy tip on the Ladybug (it's essentially a tiny Delica), I would go with the Jester. I have both, but find that I prefer the ergonomics of the Jester overall. To me, it just feels more secure in the hand due to its shape and the texturing on the nose and spine of the blade. Also, it is a bit easier to open due to the hump on the blade and the slightly larger blade hole. I like the Ladybug too, but I just sort of feel like it is a "miniaturized" version of a Delica where the Jester (which came out later) just seems more like it was designed from scratch to improve upon some of the shortcomings of other keychain knives.

BTW - Nice pics, Simona, and I agree on the ATR/Jester connection:

Gotta agree with Timlara!

The Jester feels bigger than it is. The ridged finger finger rest allows for both more cutting force and better control. There are already more versions available in the US and Japan than currently available for the Ladybug. Nice thing is they both are available in a Forest Green version with Photon LED light. I tip my hat to the Jester as the better of the two but with the Photon, they both make the perfect keyring combo.

I'll add another vote for the Jester, as Tim and Java said, it feels bigger and is far easier to control when you use it. I do wish Sal would make another run of the micarta version, perhaps in green or tan. The burgundy micarta Jester in the attached photo is one of my favorite Spydercos and is always on my key ring.

Plain or serrated? I love the spyderedge on my Jester... The ergonomics feel strange at first but very nice once you're used to it.

Thanks for the help everyone! I ordered a black PE Jester from New Graham today. If I like it enough maybe I'll also get a green serrated one.

I've had two Ladybugs and can tell you they are one great little knife. I haven't found a task at work that the Ladybug could not handle, within reason. But the Jester looks to be right spiffy and for the cost of either the Ladybug or Jester, which is extremely reasonable, you can have both and they can fill whatever niche you desire. I simply love the Spyderco knife line and would own All of what the company makes and am working towards that end. What a great product these knives are!!!! I love my Native III,Merlin, Endura, and my wife is tickled pink with her Dragonfly! ;) ;) My Ladybugs were given to friends as a way to introduce them to the finest cutlery ever made and I don't regret doing so. I'll just get another Ladybug and also buy a Jester as a companion to the Ladybug. Spyderco's are absolutely the best knives made in my opinion!! ;)
