I just saw a documentary called “The Tower” and in a segment they showed the Jeweled Sword of Offering. I don’t know much about it myself, but that must be the most expensive blade I’ve ever seen. Here’s a picture, it’s the one on the bottom, I haven’t found close up pictures of the blade itself yet:

Amazing what can be made when one family sucks all the resources out of the entire population of a nation.

The actual sword probably isn't all that expensive, it is the sword's furniture that is expensive.

As puukkoman has pointed out, it sure is nice to live so lavishly when you've looted all the wealth from India and other countries.

It could also be pointed out that it it is possible to discuss a sword or knife without needless bashing of other countries and political systems.

Without the jewels it's probably not the greatest sword, but it sure does look sparkly.:)

Its been a while since ive seen them in person (mid-late 90's) But I still think they are incredible, especially the workmanship put into them

I wonder what kind of steel it's made of. And what the grind is.

I read some more about it and they didn't say. But...oddly enough...it has a kydex sheath. Isn't that crazy?

But the Brits are so easy to take shots at!

But back to the sword, I know it's ceremonial, but is it the equivalent of a "pillow sword"? It looks very small.

When I saw the blade, it looked like it was etched with dark symbols

I bet the only part that isn't shiny is on the bevel of the edge. No disrespect to the Brits, but I think it should get cut tested, maybe not Cold Steel style, but still.

I remember seeing it at the Tower and wasn't all that impressed. My girlfriend at the time even said, "Those can't be diamonds!", to which I replied, "Yep"!
"That's a shame" was her deadpan response.
:D

I have been lucky enough to see the Crown Jewell's several times and I am always gobsmacked by the real size of the Cullinan Diamonds. Bear in mind the Crown Jewells are the cut versions.
The original uncut stone weighed 1 1/3lbs and was cleaved into 9 pieces.

Here is a little info about them.............. http://famousdiamonds.tripod.com/cullinandiamonds.html
