Jigging Micarta?

I have seen several makers using jigged micarta for scale material lately. How is this done?

I know I could use a dremel and gouge it out but the images I have seen do not look to have been done with a dremel.

I'd also be interested in hearing alternatives to adding some texture to Micarta in general aside from bead blasting and checkering.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Years ago, I scrimmed some to look like bark Ivory. Surprisingly, it looked almost real.
I have also seen micarta done like Springbok, Blesbok, and stag.
