G'Day....Doesn't life seem rather empty when we cant get access to the forum?
Recent discussions regarding the Jim Bowie Commemorative Stockman whet my appetite to obtain one.
I just purchased Ebay #330039547656 for US$51. MIB.
It states States Schrade Walden does that make it on or prior to 1973 manufacture?
Is it a reasonable price I paid?..
This item did not get the attention it deserved because Schrade was spelt Shrade and it was listed under "Case" manufacture.Picked it up in my search in all the variations of spelling Schrade which we discussed recently.Anyway I'm a happy little camper! Hoo Roo.

Nice find! You paid about right for the knife, considering age and completedness. There were 18,000 made in 1975. The seller was confused because Henry had a special tang stamp put on the early commems.

Now you see one example on why I said the list of Schrade tang stamps posted was just a start. You fellows can add this one to your lists.

Yea, I liked it to,but only 42$ worth. I really didn't need another stockman anyway.

Larry,
Now all you need are the Longhorn, Spirit of St Louis, Daniel Boone, Covered Wagon, and Buffalo Bill 4" stockmen to complete your set:D

Eric..I just noticed you're from Wallkill NY. I have a mint Scrimshaw Barlow with Brass bolsters numbered 000 proto with Scrimshaw WALLKILL STATE PRISON 1933 50th Anniversary 1983 WALLKILL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY with Tang SC506 with an inscribed picture of the Prison on blade. The Brass Bolster has aan inscribed Coat of Arms on it. All quite ornate. Have you seen one of these Barlow's? Did they ever get into production? Is it near where you live? Funny how knives can also tell some story as well isn't it? Hoo Roo

Larry,
They made it into production in 1984, although I don't know how many were made, these local SFO were usually done in small numbers, 2 or 3 hundred. There was another one made the same year for Woodbourne Correctional's 50th.Schrade made a lot of SFO knives for local organizations and towns (Wawarsing 4th of July, Walden Fire dept., Walker Valley fire dept, Colonel Bradley hose co., Fishkill penetentiary, etc.). Many of these were done from LB7's. The state prison is a huge old complex, I believe it was at one time a mental institution, that sits a couple of miles from the old Schrade plant. Sounds like you picked up a beauty, maybe off the wall.Congrats!
Eric
