That is truly sad news. I've admired his knives and engraving since i've seen pictures some years back.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Maybe he and Buster will team up in the afterlife:D

REALLY sorry to hear this, Curt. I had had long conversations with Jim in years past, as he and I worked on a number of his projects. A humble and fulfilling character.

I knew he'd been in degrading health for years. I think you told me.

Here's a tribute to his fine work:

A member of the prestigious AKI. I'll miss him, his warmth, and his artistry.

That is sad news, my condolences to everyone who knew Jim.

Coop, thank you for the beautiful pictures of his work.

Sorry to hear about this but knew he had been quite ill for a number of years. always missed seeing him in the past years also. Coops top image is quite similar to a knife I have of Jim's. Loved to chat with him and his wife when they were at shows.

Thank you to all of the friends that called and sent cards of condolences at the passing of our Dad and one of the greatest artists in our eyes. (Jim Ence)
The time that you took to call and visit with him in the past years while he was sick was important to us and to him and really helped cheer him up.
He missed being able to get out in the shop and make knives and go to the shows and being able to see and chat with everyone, and so did mom.
He is missed by so many and we have been so moved by the photos of his knives since his passing, Thank you.
His talent was one of a kind and so are his friends.

Thanks again,

Darren and Lisa Ence
